Whether you’ve already chosen someone or you want to see how one photographer operates, an engagement session is a great opportunity to get to know them and how they work as a photographer. You’ll get a sense of how they do or don’t pose you and whether or not they make you feel comfortable. It’s always a good idea to spend time with your chosen photographer.

An engagement session also allows them to get to know you as a couple. They can better understand your dynamics for your wedding day.

Get an idea of what your wedding photos will look like

Similar to getting to know your photographer, an engagement session is an opportunity to see how your photographer edits and what shots they typically pick. You also have a chance to give them feedback before your wedding day. If there’s something from your engagement session that you don’t like, you can communicate that and save yourself (and your photographer) some hassle down the road.

Most of us don’t spend a lot of time in front of a camera, and it can be awkward at first. You want to be as comfortable as possible on your wedding day. An engagement session can get rid of some of those nerves. You can also practice poses to see what you like best.
